Classic Futuristic Murals to Wrap the Manahan Solo Flyover Wall

Id Nasional. The Manahan Solo flyover project has entered the final stage. The Surakarta City Government is installing ornaments to decorate the overpass walls. His form is a very beautiful mural.

To the north of the railroad tracks, the overpass wall is decorated with a classic futuristic mural. There are three sides of the wall filled with hand strokes.

On the east side of the wall, five Pandawa figures were visualized by the form of puppets. On the west side of the wall is a modern version of the Ramayana epic.

"From the colors we can see very bright so that it looks futuristic. We also create modern images, such as the image of Rama using modern arrows," said mural artist coordinator Irul Hidayat on Saturday (12/15/2018).

While on the north side, the mural will depict figures from Solo, both from sportsmen to artists. In this section, the mural works are still in the initial stages.

"On the west and east side, it is only finishing. On the north side it is still the beginning. We have started since November 15 and the target is finished December 20, 2018," he said.

Irul explained that the mural was made not just as decoration. On the east and west side, the mural functioned so that the driver slowed down.

While on the north side the mural is made to be enjoyed casually. Because on that side is a fast lane.

"The road on the west and east side is narrow, there are tunnels too, so it must be slow. It is different from the north side which is a fast lane," he said.

"But in general this mural is different from on Jalan Gatot Subroto which is made detailed because people see it while stopping. If we fly on the flyover we only play lines and fields, so it can be seen while walking," he added.

In addition to murals, the city administration also added other ornaments, such as batik motifs along the side of the flyover. Especially to the south of the rail, the overpass wall is decorated with colorful ceramics.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Surakarta, FX Hadi Rudyatmo, said the ornaments were adapted to the character of Surakarta City. Although loaded with Javanese symbols, this ornament still seems modern.

"The concept is ethnic but futuristic. There are pictures of puppets, there are sportsmen too because here is close to the Manahan Stadium. This youth creativity is able to illustrate that the past Solo is the future of Solo," he concluded.
